Patriotic Fringe Bag

My mom loved the 4th of July. It was her second favorite holiday after Christmas. She went all out. She always had a float in the Lago Vista parade, and usually won some award for her float. I drove the float a few times and my family rode on it, waved and handed out tiny American flags. When she passed there were literally thousands of American Flags in her attic, mostly the size we’d hand out, but also 12″ flags and larger.

This is a bag she would have loved and I thought of her the whole time I was making it.

The bag is of my own design and is quite simple. A single pocket that is about 7″ wide and 10″ deep with a full flap without a closure as the weight of the flap holds it shut just fine.

Made of chrome tan leather the colors will remain just as they are without gaining a patina.

The strap is folded and sewn for smoothness and great feel. The strap on the bag measures about 40 inches, so it’s best as a shoulder bag, not quite long enough to use as a cross-body for most people.
